On Travel: The Summer Issue

09.01.2016 - Issue 2
IQ Editor

The summer IQ offers both faculty and student perspectives on travel & exploration as they relate to interdisciplinary learning and education. Points of departure include Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean.

Our IDS students Anina Murray, Carly Diaz, Ashley Powers, and Erica Sager have been globe-trotting! Their adventures in Greece, the Dominican Republic, Iceland, and the Florida Keys are inspiring. IQ has the summer beat covered from Athens to Reykjavik. And don’t miss Carly’s expertise with the underwater camera!

We explore the ways in which travel stimulates growth—and how travel has evolved over time. Certainly, travel enhances human insight and experience. Interdisciplinary teaching and learning benefit from travel. The archetypal quest is often linked to knowledge as boon—as exemplified in Brenna Garcia’s review of Joseph Campbell’s famous work , the Hero with a Thousand Faces. The Interdisciplinary Studies Program at St. Petersburg College celebrates travel abroad opportunities!
